We at Euro Ski Trips are pleased to be running 2 trips in 20011. One trip to Kitzbuhel, Austria & another in partnership with our friends at Valley Bike & Ski Werks to Chamonix, France.
One destination for March 2011 is Kitzbuhel , Austria. We will be staying at the Hotel Hotel Goldner Greif . Check out this review video of Kitzbuhel by Powder Travel . Also check out this additional video of Kitzbuhel on Powder Travel , it‘ll get you fired up to make some turns.
In addition, we will do an optional 2 night add-on in scenic Munich, Germany.
We are extremely excited about going back to Kitz. Its one of our faves. We traveled there in March of 2004 and loved it, staying at the Goldener Greif . We fell in love with the Old Town and had several days of fabulous skiing. We are looking forward to doing the Safari, which will be easier now that the new Saukaser Valley gondola has been installed. For those who do not plan to ski all 6 days, there are day trips by train including the Svarovski Crystal Factory, Vienna or Saltzberg (birthplace of Mozart and setting for The Sound of Music starring Julie Andrews). Salzberg is a wonderful city, just the right size for a day trip.
Our other destination for March 2011 is Chamonix , France. We will be staying at the Hotel Prieure . Check out this review video of Chamonix by Powder Travel . Also check out this additional video of Chamonix on Powder Travel , it‘ll get you stocked.
Tucked beneath the shadow of 4,810m (15,767ft) Mont Blanc, the power and beauty of Chamonix is unmatched.
The oldest ski resort in France is really a quaint village of 10,000 people where the tradition of fine skiing combines with the diversities a town this size can provide.
The main ski areas through the valley offer 50 lifts and varied terrain for skiers of all abilities. Le Brevent cable car begins just above the town and climbs to over 8,000 feet. Les Houches, Le Tour and sunny La Flegere is where beginners and intermediates will find many trails to ski. Les Grands Montets is the most popular area for the intermediate and the more advanced skiers.
Strong intermediate and above skiers will want to accept the challenge of the Aiguille du Midi, reached by a two-stage cable car. This 7,000 foot descent on and along the glacier of Vallee Blanche includes spectacular mountain scenery dominated by Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain.
