Euro Ski Trips

In March 2016 we went to Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. It was our first time to Madonna di Campiglio & we all had agreat time.

We have chosen Sauze d'Oulx for our 2017 destination — a ski area that we have wanted to visit for many years. And, who doesn’t love Italian food/cooking and skiing? Sauze, is situated at one end of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) with 212 pistes and over 400 km of downhill skiing trails. There is excellent skiing available for all abilities. The resort is nestled amongst larch tree forests and many of the best runs wind through the trees back to the village. Sportinia is at mid resort located just above Sauze d’Oulx at over 2000mt. All the runs from here are tree lined while above Sportinia it opens up and provides the links to the rest of the Milky Way.

The Etoile de Neiges***. It is located in the historic village of Jouvenceaux, in Upper Susa Valley, near the center of Sauze d'Oulx, and is located at the start of the new Jouvenceaux chairlift that will take you directly to the large area of the "Vialattea".

Sauze d'Oulx, Italy

Sauze d'Oulx, is located high on the sunny Balcony of the Susa Valley and surrounded by the neighbouring slopes of the Milky Way. This lively alpine village makes for the perfect retreat to the Italian Alps. Sauze d’Oulx has a much better than average sunshine record and much above average skiing. The vast majority of the pistes in Sauze have artificial snow-making facilities which is true throughout the Vialattea skiing area. Here is a link to the map of the Vialattea ski area.

The Vialattea offers more that 212 skiing connected courses, and 69 ski-lifting facilities, whose altitude ranges from 1380 metres in Cesana to 2800 metres on top of the Motta course. More than 60% of courses scattered about the different skiing resorts of the area are covered by the planned snowmaking. Sauze’s slopes – even in high season – are never impossibly over-crowded. You’ll queue for a maximum of ten minutes at the hub access points, but will then find yourself on blissfully empty pistes.

To add to your skiing experience, there are some good mountain restaurants located on the slopes providing places to stop for a quick snack or a full lunch — each one having its own menu and personality.

  • Sauze d'Oulx and surrounding area - over 380 km of downhill terrain; 150 ski lifts.
  • Piste - 15% beginner, 62% intermediate, 25% advanced.
  • Base elevation - 1509m.
  • Top elevation - 2823m.
  • Snowmaking - over 60%
