In March 2007 we went to Cortina, Italy. It was a great sun filled trip with outrageous skiing. We, of course, ate our share of pasta & helped with the wine tasting as often as we could. We will be posting photos soon.
In March 2008 we are going to Chamonix, France. We haven't been to Chamonix in a few years so its time to ski les Grands Montets, le Brevent, la Flegere, le Domaine de Balme (le Tour), Les Houches and maybe slip over to Italy for a day and take some turns in Courmayeur (to keep up the pasta & wine intake).
Tucked beneath the shadow of 4,810m (15,767ft) Mont Blanc, the power and beauty of this area is unmatched.

Chamonix offers a tremendous variety of slopes, with a chance to enjoy first rate on piste skiing and boarding for all levels. Off piste skiing with a mountain guide is available for the more adventursome. Chamonix's skiing is comprised of three main areas: Brevent/Flegere, Les Grands Montets & le Balme. There is also the sister resort of les Houches at the entrance to the valley. Access to the areas is easy with the shuttle bus service which is free with your ski pass or the guest card.
Chamonix also has two distinct cross country skiing areas in the village of Les Bois or further up the valley in Argentiere offering scenic skiing through pine forests.
A beautiful and vibrant alpine town with a mix of restaurants, bars, sport shops and cafes in the heart of the mountains, the valley reflects the diversity of the people that make up the 'chamoniard' community and is a true melting pot of flavours and atmosphere which is reflected in its fine dining and après ski activities.
